Concert Description:
Join the Santa Monica Symphony for an evening of evocative and powerful music with guest conductor Geoffrey Pope. The concert opens with Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune (Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun), a masterful exploration of color and mood. The spotlight then turns to the Los Angeles premiere of John Williams’ mesmerizing Prelude and Scherzo for Piano and Orchestra with Grammy Award-winning pianist Gloria Cheng. The evening concludes with Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, a work that brilliantly blends drama, beauty, and exultant energy.
