Concert Description:
Embark on a musical journey that is out of this world at the Santa Monica Symphony’s Galactic Horizons concert with guest conductor Dr. Danko Druško. The evening opens with the fanfare from Richard Strauss’ Also sprach Zarathustra, famously used in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Gustav Holst’s The Planets follows, in an abridged version, exploring the grandeur of our solar system. The adventure continues with Joe Hisaishi’s beloved scores from My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Spirited Away, capturing the whimsical beauty of Studio Ghibli’s animated worlds. The evening concludes with John Williams’ legendary Star Wars Suite, transporting you to a galaxy far, far away.
